Amy Baxter MD

Dr. Baxter founded MMJ Labs while practicing and teaching emergency pediatric medicine. She has been recognized for her visionary entrepreneurship following her invention of MMJ Lab’s core products: Buzzy® Needle Pain Relief and VibraCool™ Massaging Ice Therapy. Her multiple awards include Forbes Healthcare Technology Disruptors to Watch, MDDI Top 10 Innovative and Disruptive Women in Healthcare, Most Innovative CEO from Georgia’s Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), “Idea Person” by the Wall Street Journal, and Inc. Magazine’s Top Woman in Tech to Watch. She has appeared on Shark Tank, and has spoken at TEDMED, TEDx, Makerfaire, Bloomberg AARP, Converge, Exponential Medicine and multiple Women's and Entrepreneurship organizations nationally and internationally.

In the development of Buzzy Needle Pain Relief® and VibraCool™ Massaging Ice Therapy Dr. Baxter was awarded a FastTrack SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) by the NIH (National Institute of Health) – also serving as the Primary Investigator. She wrote the patents for cooling and vibration utilization to decrease pain; prepared and filed the 510K submission for medical devices granted by FDA, securing the FDA expansion of the utilization to include muscle pain and cosmetic injection pain control. Dr. Baxter has received grants from the Chase Small Business Mission Main Street, the Pediatric Device Consortium, the MayDay Fund and Kimberly Clark Foundation. She is recognized as an international leader in pain management and procedural sedation.
