Lisa Braithwaite

Before starting her public speaking coaching and training business in 2005, Lisa worked in the nonprofit sector in Santa Barbara for sixteen years, creating and delivering programs as an advocate, educator and trainer. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to create new and innovative educational programs for nonprofits. In 1995, she developed one of the first full-time teen relationship violence programs in the country, and in 1997, she co-founded Body Electric, a nonprofit designed to promote participation, recognition and celebration of women and girls in sports and physical activity. She has a B.A. in Theater from Pomona College and an M.A. in Education from UC Santa Barbara, and has presented to both youth and adults on topics ranging from domestic violence, healthy relationships, gender equity and Title IX (in her former life), to public speaking and presentation skills (her current work). She's been interviewed for the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, Men’s Health Magazine, Toastmaster Magazine, and on Inc. Her blog, Speak Schmeak, is listed on Alltop as one of the top public speaking blogs on the Web. Lisa's philosophy of public speaking is that it's fun, it's an awesome way to express yourself creatively, and that genuine connection to your topic and your audience are worth more than a thousand techniques. Lisa resides in Santa Barbara with her husband and rescued kitty Tiger.
