Trina Coleman PhD

Dr. Trina Coleman is a scientist, educator, entrepreneur, and public speaker.  Dr. Coleman holds a B.A., M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from Hampton University.

She is passionate about the state of the US educational system and the looming problem of fundamental mathematical mastery for a large percentage of K-12 students and beyond and is currently writing a series of books to help address the disparity. She is equally passionate regarding the recently trending interest in exposing students of color to more STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs.

Dr. Coleman has taught physics at the high school, community college, and university level. She has presented her work nationally and internationally, and performed unclassified research to help solve national defense issues as an Intelligence Community Post-Doctoral Research Fellow while at Howard University. During her 11 years at Howard, Dr. Coleman’s career focus shifted from strictly pure research to IT Strategic Planning. She joined the administration as the Executive Director of Technology while maintaining her connection to the physics department where she mentored, published, taught, and created online course materials. Additionally, she launched the university’s iTunes U site. Dr. Coleman also served as the Assistant Provost for Technology at Hampton University for three years.
