An Inspiring Hour with Odd?Rod

Odd? Rod

Odd?Rod inspires students to achieve their dreams. His presentations are unique and personal, and the audience is encouraged to ask questions between poems. In addition to poetry, he gives creative writing workshops and leadership and motivational presentations.

In this program, students will see someone that had nothing handed to him and earned everything by simply holding on to life. And Rod's youth and old spirit allow him to connect with the seemingly unreachable student.

Born to a drug-addicted mother and an absent father, Odd?Rod’s poverty-stricken upbringing has turned into the very tool he needed to grab and inspire anyone who hears him. He chased his education despite his surroundings and earned himself an academic scholarship to UNF where he started his own open-mic show.

The audience there identified with his “picture-painting” poetry and storytelling style. His rhythmic cadence made him very easy to listen to. He’s released 3 biographical chapbooks, written/acted in 4 commercials, authored a children’s book about diversity, and has released 3 albums of poetry.

Touring colleges since 2011, Odd?Rod has covered over 100 college campuses (sometimes twice) and been voted as APCA’s (Association Of Promotional Campus Activities) 2014 Spoken Word Artist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year.
