Staying Safe Through Storytelling

Heather Ryan

This interactive workshop takes you behind the scenes and into the criminal mind. In reality nothing is as glamorous in real life as it is on television. That's especially true for crime television shows. Learn from a real former NCIS Special Agent how actual bad guys choose their victims and what you can do to keep you and your family safe.

Heather discusses how to stay safe online, on a college campus, in a corporate setting, and with your family. Her message is engaging and shared through storytelling. Heather believes when you're empowered with knowledge, you're strong--and bad guys don't pick strong victims.

Heather Ryan is a former Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). For 14 years she investigated crimes ranging from narcotics, rape and domestic violence to homicide and espionage. She became an expert interrogator with hundreds of bad guys telling her how they chose their victims and committed their crimes.

As a mom of two kids Heather decided the hours spent away from home were too much. At that point she became an entrepreneur and started Safe in the City. Now Heather shares the bad guys' secrets with her students and some interesting stories along the way. She explains to her students how to be safe so they don't become the next statistic.
